50 Baths= 1 Steak. Tsk Tsk.

It takes more than 2,400 gallons of water to produce 1 pound of meat, while growing 1 pound of wheat only requires 25 gallons.

You save more water by not eating a pound of meat than you do by not showering for six months!

A totally vegan diet requires only 300 gallons of water per day, while a typical meat-eating diet requires more than 4,000 gallons of water per day.

50 Baths= 1 Steak

Think about it.

Happy World Water Day!

Cruelty-free Desi Fashion- Vegan Cotton Saris from UDD!

Are you ready for your first vegan sari?

Yuti and Atul bring you UDD- a playful, colorful, vibrant collection of digitally printed motifs on saris, dupattas, stoles and skirts. Check out their cotton saris- they're a joy to wear and they're kind to silk worms.

Here's a fact I'm sure you've heard- Silk production means a painful death for insects. To produce 100 grams of silk approximately 1,500 worms are killed! Silk is derived from the cocoons of larvae, so most of the insects raised by the industry don’t live past the pupa stage, as they are steamed or gassed alive in their cocoons.

So it's time to ditch silk and embrace these fashionable and cruelty-fabrics instead! Oh, and we absolutely LOVE the birds on their saris, especially the Udd Panchhi Collection (literally means 'fly away birdie')!

Email UDD at to buy their products.

Best Vegan Sushi in Mumbai

If I could eat a little Sushi every day of my life- I could wish for nothing more. If you're a fan of sushi too, especially the kind that doesn't involve killing little fishies by putting hooks through their lips, not to forget the million and a half health risks that come with eating raw fish- then check out these awesome Sushi places in Mumbai.

Global Fusion in Bandra West is my top pick for the most affordable vegan sushi in town. The lunch buffet on most weekdays in Rs 649 (inclusive of taxes) and you can eat all the sushi you want!

Sushi Cafe, just off of Linking Road, Bandra West, will bring sushi right to your doorstep. Priced at Rs 150 to Rs 250 for 6-8 rolls and at Rs 500 for a Premium Platter, these guys have a really wide selection. I recommend the Ikibana Veg with asparagus, avocado and cucumber and the Tofu Chilli with a spicy Japanese chilli sauce. Call them on 98336 50503!
And if you're in the mood to splurge, Wink at the Taj Vivanta in Cuffe Parade, has the most delicious Shitake Mushroom Sushi, among other vegan options. They also make a killer Wasabi Martini with Vodka- a fitting accompaniment to their perfectly crafted platters.
